See my point? Does she look comfortable? No. Does she look silly? A little. But does she look cute??? Of course!!
So as far as I'm concerned- dress your dog up! They may be uncomfortable for a bit and they may look stupid, but for a good picture or an hour of joy- they'll be fine.
Here are some more pics for your enjoyment :)

You may disagree, but I think dressing your dog up is hilarious if you can get them to keep the clothes on.

Well, I do dress mine from time to time, but only in silly hats or vests/jackets/coats. I don't do the whole fancy dress thing, though if your dog doesn't mind and you take his comfort into account when choosing a costume, I suppose it's OK!
ReplyDeleteI started dressing mine firstly to keep them warm (greyhounds get chilly), but also because I have a therapy dog and it gets people talking and breaks the ice.
I lOVE the 'happy happy' picture up there!
Jackie! Your blog is awesome and these pictures are hilarious! I especially enjoy the collie dressed as an order of french fries. Classic.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to follow your blog and read what you have to say each day. I have a feeling I'm going to be very entertained! Keep up the great work!
My brother and his girlfriend love to dress up their dog especially in the winter. "Tiny" has an argyle sweater vest, Buckeye sweatshirt, and a Christmas elf get-up. I feel so sorry for the little guy whenever they force him to endure this. He's clearly not comfortable.
ReplyDeleteDogs are meant to be naked. That's the way they like it. Otherwise, God wouldn't have granted them fur in order to successfully combat the elements during the winter and shed it all off during the summer.
The farthest I'll go in dressing a dog is having them wear a bandana around their neck, because I think it looks sophisticated ;-)
FYI Jackie I LOVE your blog! I'm so excited to start following it!
I , personally don't dress up my hound, but my wife's daughter will with her two dogs. I don't see it as torture, and I guess it could be entertaining. We've all looked at the pictures that come in the e-mail showing dogs in costume.
ReplyDeleteDisagree. As an Angeleno, I see way more than my fair share of poor, tortured little yip-yips in stupid outfits.
ReplyDeleteCan you please do a piece on people who insist on taking their dog everywhere? That is also a major issue here. Seriously, you do not need your dog at Whole Foods Market, at the gynecologist, at the mall... Let's still to the park and the pet store, hmm?
I agree...they'll be fine. They tear up our things and poop in the house, and we forgive them. We spend money on food, toys, and vet bills, and they give back some love, sometimes some protection, and sometimes therapeutic benefits. However, we're still putting a little more into the equation, so they can deal with it, and forgive us like we do for them for all the crazy stuff they do.
